Important Message About the New and Improved Davis Stirling Act!

In 2014 the Davis Stirling Act will move to a new location. Although it is being rewritten the California Law Revision Commission (who wrote the bill) has sold it to the legislature as a product of a sincere attempt to clarify the law and not make material changes. You can read it for yourself!

We all need transition time and thus it will not become effective until January 1, 2014.

Here is the message sent by the Community Associations Institute – California Legislative Action Committee recently:

On Friday, August 17th, Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bills 805 and 806, reorganizing the Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act, which defines and regulates common interest developments and authorizes the association that manages the development to levy assessments to fulfill its obligations. The Davis-Stirling Act is of great importance and the core of our business, as it regulates HOAs. Currently found at Civil Code Sections 1350-1378, the Act, starting on January 1, 2014, will be found at Civil Code Sections 4000-6150.
