YOU CAN GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM ME AND MY FRIENDS

ME AND MY FRIENDS

Let me take just a moment and point out that you do not need to hire a famous person, someone from a big law firm, or someone who went to Harvard or Stanford to get good treatment in your legal situations. I attended John F. Kennedy University in Walnut Creek, California, back in the day when it was purely a night school. I made good and true lifelong friends and I’m happy to say that my closest friends  have all brought light to the legal community.

CLASS OF ’88, JOHN F. KENNEDY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW, WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA

My good friend Peri De Marco is an Administrative Appeals Judge in Sacramento California.

My good friend Benjamin Coats was just appointed a Superior Court Judge in Ventura, California.

My good friend Jon Webster, a prior police officer, District Attorney in Contra Costa County, and now in private practice as an employment lawyer in Concord, California, successfully advocated for police officers all over the State of California winning a large judgment in their favor two years ago.

My good friend Danne Clark served as District Attorney in Contra Costa County from 1988 until a year or two ago when he retired.

I feel I am in excellent company and that it is fair to say the five of us have brought considerable elegance to people in California who are entitled to honest, moral, and intelligent legal help.

I also feel it is fair to say that one can get out of any education what one wants. It’s not true to say that only those who attend the most expensive schools or have the most widely known reputations can be truly successful or achieve greatness. We all accomplished what we set out to do and that is become respected attorneys who make a difference.

I might add that besides myself, my brother who worked with Melvin Belli for several years and then served as a public defender in San Francisco for 27 years; and my daughter and my niece all attended John F. Kennedy University before it became an accredited law school.

You don’t need the biggest name or the most expensive education to achieve richness in your chosen field. You just need to use what you have well and for good purpose. And you will be a success.
